Rec­og­nize the poten­tial growth and trans­for­ma­tion afford­ed through change and adver­si­ty in the Quest for Resilience.

We often think of resilience as bounc­ing back,” but what if we reframed chal­lenges and set­backs as oppor­tu­ni­ties to bounce for­ward” towards a health­i­er, stronger, and bet­ter self? An inte­gral part of being a stu­dent and a leader, is being able to rec­og­nize the poten­tial trans­for­ma­tion and growth afford­ed through change, stres­sors, and adver­si­ty. When we can effec­tive­ly har­ness the momen­tum dur­ing these chal­leng­ing times, we can bring pos­i­tive trans­for­ma­tion to our­selves and our com­mu­ni­ties. In this 10-hour course, stu­dents will devel­op their resilience and learn strate­gies that will enhance the qual­i­ty and dynam­ics of col­lab­o­ra­tion. Cer­tifi­cate Outcomes

Upon com­plet­ing this course stu­dents will be able to…

  1. Artic­u­late the per­son­al and pro­fes­sion­al ben­e­fits of resilience. 
  2. Deter­mine intrap­er­son­al strengths-based strate­gies to increase self-aware­ness and resilience. 
  3. Explain the impact of neg­a­tiv­i­ty bias on behav­ior and emo­tion in the midst of adver­si­ty, change, and challenge.
  4. Employ both intra- and inter­per­son­al strate­gies for increas­ing resilience among teams and team members.
  5. Dis­cern sit­u­a­tion­al­ly appro­pri­ate strate­gies for tap­ping into key sources of resilience.
  6. Rec­on­cile the chal­lenges faced by the Founders with the resilience they exhibited.
